Five for Friday 7/3/15

Is it the first Friday of July can you believe it??? I am enjoying my summer break and all the fabulous link ups I have found since I jumped back into the blogging world:) This Five for Friday link up is brought to you by the amazing Doodle Bug Teaching! This is a great way to recap the week. So here's what I was up to this week!!

Thanks to some incredible PD last week this week I have been diving deeper into research on play in the kindergarten classroom. I also plan to incorporate more "play" through inquiry and Project based learning. I am hoping that my administration will be supportive and understanding of some of the changes I will be making in my classroom:) I'm sure she will be.... I do have LOTS of research to offer her just in case however haha!!

I have spent several days in my classroom this week. School doesn't start back until August 3rd but since I painted my room I had to hang everything back up!! I am in love with the colors on my room. It feels so calm and peaceful...hopefully that will carry over when the kinders arrive ha! These are a few pics I took of the new set up and colors:)

The quotes in the back of the room are from the talented Bubbly Blond Teacher! They are perfect!

Loving my new alphabet I created with my Creative Clips Clipart! I love everything Krista creates!!
I have been reading this fabulous book! I missed going to the National WBT conference this year. I plan on going again next year. If you don't have this book you should. If you haven't heard of WBT or are not using WBT in your classroom you are missing out!!

I created this WBT pack to use in my classroom. It is a freebie in my TPT store:)
My daughter and I went on a wild rug hunt this week! At the end of the year I got rid of my large carpet in my classroom. It had definitely seen a better day. I wanted to purchase a large bamboo mat to replace it. We looked everywhere and no luck:( I tried online and wasn't willing to pay over $200 bucks for one either!! So just as I was about to give up I ran into this super sweet lady and she suggested I go to a store called Southeastern Salvage. I have been in there before but not paid attention to rugs ha! She told me they had some nice size rugs in there for under $100. Right up my ally and budget. I was able to find something and I love it. Drum roll please it was only $50 so definitely a  PLUS!!! The funny thing was trying to load the rug in my car.  My daughter said next time we would take her car! It was comical and the store guy laughed as we were putting it in! We managed and dropped it off at school.
To celebrate the 4th of July weekend I am throwing a TPT sale!! Everything is 20% off. Happy July 4th my friends! I am so thankful to live in this wonderful country!

Thanks for stopping by for my Five for Friday! Head over to Doodle Bug Teaching to join in on the fun!!
