Oral Writing Kindergarten Style

When I say my kinders are loving oral writing it is an understatement!!! They are crazy about it. This is a short video of our oral writing time this morning during whole group. I love that this is really caring over throughout the day. They are doing so well I am loving it. I have been a huge WBT fan for about 4 years. I was able to attend the WBT National Conference this past summer and I learned so many new things. My favorite thing was the oral writing. It has made a HUGE impact in my classroom. My EL's as well as Special Ed kids are rocking it as well!

Down on the Farm

             

            

            

 It's Down on the Farm time in our classroom! We have jumped into learning all about farm animals. My kiddos are having a blast. Nothing makes me happier than to see my kinders actively engaged in learning. Their favorite centers are read/write the room and QR codes. They are CRAZY for QR codes!

 We have also began very guided research this week. I am so impressed with my kids desire to learn. They love non-fiction text. Today we research goats. They were amazed that a goat's pupils are shapes like rectangles! They also thought it was cool that they were good jumpers. They all got a kick out of the picture in the book with the goat in the tree!

Oral Writing- OH YEAH!!!!!

Words can not express how floored I am by the success of oral writing with my kinders. They are rocking it! They are answering in complete sentences. We are using the capital letter brainy, ending punctuation and the because clapper. They are cracking me up with the ending punctuation. I know my teacher neighbors think my class has lost it. I am thankful that my neighbor on the left is also a WBT lover so her class sounds a lot like mine too!!
We just started the because clapper last week and they are really doing well with it. I am so proud of them. I am looking forward to them being able to put their thoughts on paper. Community helper fun

  

The kinders LOVED our community helper unit! It was so much fun! I have a classroom full of future teachers, doctors, police officers, fire fighters, a hair stylist and a zoo keeper:) My kinders continue to amaze me with all they are learning! I am one proud teacher!!!

My classroom

I meant to post this picture forever ago!!! Everything seems to stop when school starts back,,,or is it just me?!?!?!? We are really getting into the routine so things will balance out again soon! I hope everyone is having a great school year so far:)

Back to school, new units and WBT oh my....

The first 11 of kindergarten have come and gone! It has been exhausting and fabulous at the same time. Each year I forget how hard the first few weeks of kindergarten are!! I am very happy with my kinders. They are loving all things whole brain! They have the rules mastered and class-yes. We are working on hands and eyes, mirrors and teach-ok. They are super troopers. I know we are going to have a fabulous year.


I have also created several units for school and have posted them on TPT. I am very excited with how things are going!

New unit!!!

Superheroes are my theme for my class this year. So what better way to start the first full week of school than with this Superheroes unit. I finally finished it and posted it on TPT:) I am so excited to use it with my class in a few weeks. I usually tell my kinders that they have a job at school just like me. My job is to plan, create and teach them. Their job is to work and learn. Everyday I will ask them what their job is and they will say to work and learn! Well this year I am going to change it up a little. We are going to talk about super powers of kindergarteners. Their super powers are learning and great behavior. I am implementing oral writing this year as well(I will post about this later). So when I ask them in the mornings what their super powers are they will say- Our super powers are learning and great behavior:) I am looking forward to meeting my new group of super kinders!! I am hoping for a wonderful year with great kids and amazing learning!

First unit complete:)

I finally finished my first unit for TPT! I have made several things but this was definitely the biggest project so far. I can't wait to use these center activities with my new kinders soon!! I am still a little shocked that summer is almost over! Where did the time go???? I have been to the school several times and worked in my room. Don't Stop the Train

This was one of the themes at the WBT conference this summer.  So many times throughout the day we stop instruction for varies reasons and the result is we lose our kiddos.  I made this banner to remind myself through out the day to keep the train moving! Whole Brain Teaching gives you so many strategies to use in the classroom. It also encourages active participation from the kiddos. I am hoping that this year they will be so busy using mirrors, gestures and teach ok that they won't have time to derail the train!

Changes changes!!

  Hello all:) 

  Sometimes change is good!! I am happy to announce a new blog name and URL. I have several irons in the fire right now and needed them all to match up. I have been blogging to share my whole brain teaching journey as well as earn certification points for a few months now.
   Recently I have opened a Teachers Pay Teachers store. The name of the TPT store is Chevron and centers. I didn't want to run 2 blogs(let's be honest I know I couldn't manage that!!) so I decided to create the best of both worlds. So here it is!!! The new blog is Chevron and Centers- WBT style!!
  I will post about my WBT adventures as well as freebies and updates from my TPT store. Thank you for going on this adventure with me!!!! I am excited about the future.
